Welcome to the Explorer Lesson!
Our Explorers Program, for kids 4-12 years old, uses a terrain-based approach to allow all students to learn how to ski or snowboard at their own pace. Terrain Based Learning is a process for teaching beginner ski and snowboard lessons utilizing purpose-built snow features to help your child achieve the movements, sensations and body positioning needed to ski and snowboard.
Here are a few tips to make your visit the best it can be:
Pre-Arrival: Be sure to dress your child or children according to the weather conditions, preferably in layers. They should have a jacket, snowpants, and waterproof gloves/mittens.
Arrival: Arrive 30 minutes before the lesson.
Location: Meet at the Frontier Center located at the base of the mountain.
Step One: Check in at the registration desk. Parents will receive a security ticket at that time. Weekends & Holidays: Registration starts at 8:30am. Lessons run continuously starting at 9am with the last lesson starting at 2pm. Weekdays: Registration starts at 9:30am. Lessons are from 10am-12pm or 1pm-3pm.
Step Two: Students will be fitted with boots, helmets, and a board or skis (if renting). The lesson begins with some training activities and then the students proceed to the snow with their instructor.
Step Three: Parents pick up their children at the Fronteir Center at the end of the lesson. Parents need to provide the security ticket they were given at registration to retrieve their children.
If you want to extend the learning experience of the morning session, you are welcome to add the afternoon session (availability permitting) for only $40.00!
